Plex server in different subnet

Hey guys,

I’ve got a bit of technical question. My home network is going to be split into 2 parts. 192.168.1.0/24 and 192.168.2.0/24. The 2 networks are reachable from one another. So you can ping from 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.2.2

When I have server and player in the same network, there’s no issue. However, what will happen when I have the server in one network, and the media player in the other. Will the mediaplayer try to go through the plex.tv and stream my content over internet, or will it be smart enough to reach the server on it’s internal network.

Thanks in advance!

It will all run local.
I do this as well, wired connections on one (192.168.1.0/24) and WIFI on another (192.168.2.0/24).

Awesome, any insight on how the client finds the server that is in another subnet?
I’m just curious now

You could use “Custom server access URLs” in Settings > Server > Network on the server machine.
