when I open the web-interface of my Plex server, it mentions that there is an update to 1.15.2.793
my media-server is running Debian 9.8 Stretch and is fully updated.
when I run “sudo apt-get update” and than “sudo apt-get upgrade” there does not come an update for Plex.
my /etc/apt/sources.list.d/plexmediaserver.list contains the following line:
deb https://downloads.plex.tv/repo/deb/ public main
this has worked for a long time, even though there is always an error message saying:
"Contradictive distribution: https://downloads.plex.tv/repo/deb public InRelease (expected public, but got )
Everything is ok on your end. Plex temporarily disabled all automatic updates so users would poke their head into the forum and find out if they meet all the dependencies.
You can download the file with your browser and manually install or copy the link and use wget on your server.
Sorry could you clarify “find out if they meet all the dependencies”? I am one of these users who you must want to poke their heads here; can you please use this thread to explain what has changed and if I need to do anything? When will auto-updates be available again?
When the new repositories are available, We / I will do our best to make note in all the related threads as well as (most likely) a general post for all.
I apologize, I meant go do the download page in your browser https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/ and select the file that matches your server, copy the link and paste it into your wget like so:
If you are using the official repositories, using init instead of systemd, haven’t relocated your Plex install or using an override file in the wrong directory then you have no additional worries.
Not to anger or seem aggressive, I would like to start focusing the plethora of threads on this topic in favor of the the more frequently accessed with higher participation.
Please see the linked threads above to continue further
