Plex Server / Plex Amp: Play Internet Radio stations.

I moved to Plex assuming that it was on a leading edge of audio and video services that I could use for all of my audio and video needs. Even signed up for the Lifetime Pass so that I could use Plex Amp.

(Lost ability to play podcasts a while back!)

So where is the ability to play internet radio? Seems to have been requested thousands of times over the years (voting on this topic seems to be closed).

I’m confused why a 2024 application does not incorporate technology that has existed for decades. For example, the ability to play internet radio (and other internet streaming URL).

In PlexAmp, select Internet Radio Station from:

  • Home, “Internet Radio”
    and/or
  • Library, “Internet Radio”
    and/or
  • In Settings, select Source = Internet Radio Stations

I dunno, “One App to Rule Them All”? There are plenty of other great apps out there for playing streaming stations, like Tunein. And there are a variety of podcast apps. Let’s keep Plexamp concentrating on the task at hand, being the best music player and not mess it up with bloat.

Well, to rule the media, yes. It IS a media server, right?

I would like to “streamline” my media consumption. So If I create a headless PlexAmp Raspberry Pi to access my plex server to stream to my stereo system, I don’t want to have to create some other setup (server and app) to stream to the same Raspberry Pi and stereo system. System and maintenance overhead, and flipping into different Applications for different music…

Seems like it could be as simple as being able to enter a list of url’s that would be displayed as choices…

Same could be said of loss of Podcasts – at least have the ability to enter a podcast URL/OPML.

Similarly there’s an existing suggestion thread discussing for Plex to allow adding podcasts again.

Unless I’m missing some unique aspect of your suggestion I’ll close this thread as a duplicate.
