Plex Server - Selecting Shuffle consistantly selects same selection of videos repeatedly

I have been experiencing an issue where we select a tv series with multiple seasons, click the shuffle button, and the server will consistantly pick the same 5-10 video’s every time. Is there some settings I need to change? I don’t have a playlist of specific episodes that I am aware of, I just want it to randomly pick an episode to play. This issue appears to happen no matter what plex client I am using (mobile device, web client, roku, shield, etc), and the behavior is the same no matter what media I choose.

Any suggestions?

Same issue on regular audio tracks. I suspect the random number generator somewhere is not initialized correctly and always starts with the same seed, generating the same shuffle order.

After doing some additional google searches, appear this issue has been reported several times over the years.

Shuffle NOT Random

Perhaps someone can help me understand. This is both a roku and chromecast issue for me. So, for the past two months or so I have been using playlists. I made one large playlist of sitcoms that my fiancé and I both like, that we put on when we’re cooking dinner, etc. Depending on what we are doing we will watch anywhere from 3-8 episodes a night.
