I was doing some Wireshark analysis today and noticed Plex is doing a lot of DNS lookups for meta.plex.tv. It is receiving CNAME responses and they resolve to an IP (cloudflare) so it seems like it’s working properly. I’m seeing bursts of requests every second.
This is normal Plex behavior. Most of these are buffered. They reach your local gateway which, being the LAN DNS gateway, has them cached. It returns the value. When the cache expires (15 minutes) it updates again.
