Plex Server Sharing

Hello,

A friend (Tom) has shared their server with me (Belly). Under my plex account, I have multiple users (example: Belly, Joe, Bob).

Under the user “Belly” I am able to access “Tom’s” media. However, under “Joe” and “Bob” I cannot access Tom’s Media. Since Belly is the main user and everyone logs into Plex via Belly’s credentials, why would Tom and Joe not be able to have access to whatever Belly has access to?

Also is there a way to have Joe and Bob log in using their own credentials?

That’s kind of the expected behavior.
Tom has shared with _Belly, not with Bob and Joe.
Only the owner of a Plex Home can share (their) libraries with managed accounts. Other users can only share media to full Plex accounts.

Plex is not designed to forward shares.

There’s a feature suggestion discussing an option to share to an entire Plex Home or to let Plex Home admins forward media shared with them to their managed users.

Thank you Tom for the reply. Hopefully they allow this feature. Do you have a timeline on when they would decide?

Since Bob and Joe log in via Belly’s Credentials, it doesn’t make any sense for _Belly to not be able to allow Joe/Bob to access Tom’s files.

For Example, if Tom decides to share his library with Belly, then he would assume that Belly will be able to share those files with users under Belly’s account. Right now, because Joe and Bob can’t access Tom’s files, they end up using Belly’s account to watch Tom’s files.

Also since this feature isn’t in yet. How can Tom share his media to Bob/Joe… Bob/Joe are linked to Belly, so email sharing wouldn’t work.

P.S. Just realized you are also Tom… Crazy Coincidence…
