I’ve used Plex server for years to host personal video files. I had to recreate my library following some hardware upgrades. On the rebuilt library, Plex is not reading the artist MP4 tag data to populate Actors.
Windows Server 2019 Essentials
Plex Server version 1.40.5.8921 (it was at the latest version. I downgraded to see if the latest update was the cause).
In Server Settings - Agents I have Movies and Personal Media selected with Local Media Assets (Movies) 1st and Personal Media 2nd in the list below.
In the Library Advanced settings I have the scanner as Plex Video Files and the agent as Personal Media. I’ve tried various combinations of Scanners and Agents to no avail.
The videos are MP4 with ID3v1 or ID3v2 tags written by Mp3tag.
In the rebuilt library Plex is reading the genre and year info, but not the artist. It’s never been a problem before.
