Plex refuses to accept my tags

4.76.1
I just started ripping my CD’s and use MusicBrainz’ Picard to get the tags correct. As you can see, this doesn’t bother Plex. I have set the tags so I don’t get a lot of strange artists because some, like Jeff Lynn, feels they are better than others. So Electric Light Orchestra is that, and n ot ELO or Jeff Lynn’s whatever. The same happened with Wings. I don’t give a rats ass about Paul McCartney naming some of the albums with his name first, to me the band is Wings. But even though I’ve cleaned up the tags as I want them, Plex doesn’t seem to care. I’ve set both Last FM and Personal Media Artist as agent, but changing from Last FM didn’t change anything. For music this is way more important than for movies, since you don’t sort them under artists in the same way. Am I doing something wrong? If not, can you think about this in the next update?

I’m assuming you are using the new music agent (it’s the default agent in Plex)

If so, those settings under Agents have no affect in how Plex reads the tags. You will need to Edit your library, and in the advanced tab, select the “Prefer local metadata” tag to enable your custom tags.

Be aware, Plex is very fussy about the local tags, so make sure they are all correct. Make sure the album artist, track artist, track #, album name, genre, etc are all perfect before you add them to your library.

I deleted the folder and redid it with “Personal Media Artist” set from the start. Then everything worked out like I wanted it. Thanks.
