I don’t have much to add other than upgrading to Ubuntu 21.xx is brave. I only do LTS’s just to minimize possible issues.

Ubuntu 21 is problematic at best and does not work well.
Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS does.

All odd-numbered releases of Ubuntu have this same general characteristic because it’s the year they introduce new base features. Everything tends to break. By the time we get to the next even-numbered year – they’ll have it worked out.

Well maybe you can help me ….

I’m suppose to have only lts release
When I open
/etc/update-manager/release-upgrades

It’s
prompt=lts

But for a reason it upgrade to 21.10 and don’t know why. And I can’t in Ubuntu I can’t downgrade … without reinstall every thing …so I’m on 21.10 and it work find now …everything is stable I’m on Ubuntu server …no gui …

Ubuntu 22.04 Has Not Been Tested. That’s on my agenda for this week.

For those who’ve upgraded to 21.04, I suspect you’ll have to ride the wave of bugs until it stabilizes around 22.04.1

For anyone else reading this, I expect that my final recommendation will be something like:

Ubuntu 18.04 – Wait until 22.04.02 or later. Ubuntu 18.04 has a full year of support so there is no rush.

Ubuntu 20.04 – has until 2025. Clearly no rush.

Ubuntu 21.10 Impish Indri is the final interim release before the next Ubuntu Long Term Support (LTS) due to be released in April 2022. Developers can use Ubuntu 21.10 to future-proof their work for the next LTS, which will be supported at least until 2032

21.10 will not be LTS… Odd numbered years never are.

22.04 will be a LTS.
