Plex Server - Unkown metadata type: folder

Server Version#:1.19.3.2843
Player Version#:2.56.0.1071-85947843-windows-x64

This has been an ongoing problem for several months now - created a Plex container, added my media, shortly after the log Plex server log start to fill up with with following error:
ERROR - Unknown metadata type: folder.

I have followed a couple of guides from here, suggesting to disable Local Media Asset agents and then re-analyse the libraries.
I have followed this, and it errors stop being reported for a while, but within 24hrs it starts to be logged again.
I have deleted and recreated the container, along with all libraries. However this time I unchecked Local Media Assets before I added any libraries. no errors were reported for a day or two.
When I checked a few days later the log was again filled with the errors (see attachement)

What is causing the error to be reported?

I have tried to reproduce the error by playing various files, running the scanner, or analyse the library, but not having much luck to reproduce the issue on demand.

You can simply ignore that error… probably some artifact from a regular scan where Plex looks at your files for updates… read it as “I wanted to process a file but found a folder… moving on to the next item”.

Thanks Tom

I did a bit of digging and enabled the Verbose logging, it looks like it only occurs when either I browse to one particular library “Animation” and one TV series (Family Guy) or just play any episode of Family Guy (logging an error when the file plays, and then when it loads the next episode.

Testing any other library or playing any other TV show or movie doesnt create any error.

Strange that it is just one library that is causing the error, but at least I know what causes the error.

Thanks
