Plex Server was great for a week so I bought a plexpass. And then

Player Version#: Many & various but always the latest stable version

Everything was working reasonably well for a week or so, until yesterday. Now, on every media type play attempt:

Web Browser - Plays OK except for 720p videos
Plex HTPC -An unexpected playback error occurred
Plexamp (Linux & Android) An unexpected playback error occurred
Plex Player (Android and Fire-TV) An unexpected error occurred.

PlexKodiConnect (Linux) : Plays OK on most things. Crashes on 720p video
PlexKodiConnect(Android): Hangs - no media plays.

Whereto now?

Purchasing a Plex Pass would have automatically enabled the hardware transcoding feature on your server. It’s possible your server doesn’t handle hardware transcoding properly. Try turning that off and see if things go back to how they were before.

No, that’s not the case. I’ve had the plexpass for the time mentioned. See my other reply,

UPDATE:
The issue on Fire-TV was resolved by removing Plex and then re-installing. Plex on Fire-TV now works again.

The same did not work on Android TV (Andoid 9 and Android 11). Same error on everything.

Linux: I removed Plex-TV and reinstalled the latest (1.17). Again, no joy. Same error,.

Please recreate the issue on 1 device, then grab the server logs and post them here.

OK, found a solution, sort of:

on PMS, Settings > Audio > Normalize Multi-Channel Audio = FALSE.

Now all players behave.

However, now audio on video is very, very quiet (hush, don’t wake the neighbours) and on the same setting music is crazy loud. Very annoying.

That setting is only for the Plex HTPC app you are using. That is not a server wide setting. That should have no affect on other players you have.

im having same issue with htpc. playback error, when tring to play livetv.

its works fine on android, firetv, and website version. just not htpc. i even have plex htpc installed on same pc as plex server. i have loads of free resources as well.

i even uninstalled all plex related apps including server. then reinstalled with latest. and built plex from scratch with only the livetv function. and still no dice.
