Plex, set to 'prefer local metadata', ignores local metadata and changes artist name

I just “ripped” an album from a vinyl record, carefully tagged it myself and added it to my server. The artist name is “The KLF” and it is set to this for every track on the release.

Yet when I add it to my server, the artist immediately comes up as “2K”, a name variation they used for one track, on a release that isn’t currently on my server.

The release (a bootleg - “Lost Trance 4”) does not exist on Musicbrainz, so it did not get the data from there.

So how come Plex decided to rename the artist? How can I force it to actually prefer the metadata provided by my files? (I have “Prefer local metadata” set on the library and it seems to be ignored). As ever with Plex and metadata, I find myself totally lost. Any help appreciated.

Make sure you set the Album Artist as well.
