Plex + Shield + LG 2021. TrueHD and DTS

Hi,

maybe there is easy fix for this, but I was not able to find it.

I have LG 2021 TV which of course does not support DTS. I have my Shield connected directly to TV, and TV is connected via eARC to B&O soundbar with TrueHD support ( no DTS as well).

when in Plex client settings I select passthrough to HDMI all works properly and TrueHD signal is being sent. but DTS is sent as PCM which I believe is stereo only. What is interesting Plex dashboard shows it’s direct play.

when Plex client is set to Passthrough optical with AC3 set, then DTS is transcoded on the fly to AC3, but at the same time TrueHD as well.

Is there any option to passthrough only TrueHD and transcode only DTS? Quite tricky to change settings for each movie

connect the shield direct to the soundbar, that should solve the problem.

I think too, but if you ampli is not HDR or Dolby vision you can’t pass this “information” to your TV, so this is going to be the movie without DV or HDR. Just be aware of that.

rather interested if this can be done on software level. Emby for example behaves in a way that it only transcodes DTS, TrueHD is untouched.
