Why doesn’t somebody at Plex grow a set of balls, be a man, and actually tell your paying customers WHAT THE #&$* IS GOING ON WITH THIS APP? FOR %$#$S SALE, THIS IS BULLSHIT.

So, so true. I was finally able to get an answer for the PlayStation app after harassing the devs for months and the answer was “oh come on” lol… Can’t communicate with the customers.

Let’s just assume this companyt is shutting it’s doors.
So we’re about a year without updates. In the meantime, Emby has added WOL to their store app and they continue to update the app on a regular basis (at least once a month). I’m perfectly OK if Plex would come out and tell us this app is dead, but the silence is just infuriating.

Plex is a failing company. By now it’s not much more than a shiny interface around a data gathering algorithm that also plays media.
Although I am equally frustrated about the lack of development on this app as are you I’m quite far away from the idea that Plex in any way is a data gathering algorithm… I mean surely if it was that, then everything would be working, it would be working too well because there would be 10 times as many people working on it as there are now (because well the money was there). If you are really that annoyed you all know you can email elan@plex.tv just as I did (I posted my email thread earlier here) and let him know that you are unhappy with how, particularly, the UWP app is being treated. If you look at other platforms, they all at one time or another had over 1 year of waiting time, namely ATV, Smart TVs etc. To me that screams that Plex is a fairly small company, likely with a higher turnover of developers as one would expect normally, which could be due to the fact that they do spread themselves quite thin. And if you checked the email that we all got from Plex the other day they are looking for like 5 or 6 positions to fill at the company, so I am not surprised that many of the platforms are not getting the TLC that they need/deserve but I am hopeful that we will eventually get to a point where this will be fixed!

If platforms aren’t getting the TLC they need, maybe stop working on goofy pointless nitch items like Google Daydream.

Come on … Plex without News wouldn’t be worth installing at all!!!

the daydream app was made by someone not on the Plex team, plex hired him after he already made the app.

What I don’t get, is that we actually had to explain on here what a UWP app is. Anybody developing for the Windows platform should be aware of the technology involved, but apparently, Plex has no idea.
I also sensed some scepticism that a UWP app could be written that would work on different devices.
Yet, Emby appears to have done just that - Emby Theater is available on Xbox One, PC, Mobile, HoloLens, and Hub on the Microsoft Store.
Meanwhile, we are told, that Plex management are discussing whether to continue with the mobile app. Although, again, on that subject, they have gone dark.
Let’s not forget, also, that we were told in June 2017 by a member of Plex staff that there was “plenty of work” being done on the mobile app. I don’t recall us getting an apology for that.
I think this says it all. So this is what the developers have been spending their time on, I guess…
I definitely think that Plex is suffering with communication issues between the developers managers and the PR Team. The fact that someone who trawls the forums doesn’t understand the difference of a UWP app doesn’t surprise me. The fact that PR doesn’t talk to developers and vice versa makes me more uncomfortable, because that means that whatever we say on here is just for show and that developers have their own little list of bugs that they follow. (Which seems to be the case at the moment). The fact that the Xbox app was kept separate to the mobile app maybe had something to do with mobile sync, maybe it was just easier than trying to adjust the Xbox app. I agree that the whole Plex News and VR thing seems a bit ridiculous especially as there are clients that really need to be worked on though…
As for general PR “lies” well you’ll find that truths are stretched to calm down its users… that happens everywhere in any size company.
Whow … now this thread has been sunken too. It doesn’t get pushed to the top any more.
Again?
I don’t think it’s done on purpose though. Someone needs to turn it off and on again…

Weird it’s at the top for me…
Closing in on a year and still no updates… Playback still stutters… This is by far the best plex frontend in windows for touch screens, but its basically unusable with the stuttering. Plex for kodi is alright, but kodi’s touch support is meh at best, and the plex media player just uses the web interface which has become completely unusable with touch after some of the more recent updates.
So plex, whats the deal? Even with a plex pass I still paid extra for this one and nothing. Maybe even just some updates as to whats going on? Is anyone even still working on this or was it just 5 dollars flushed down the drain?
at 5 bucks a month for doing nothing; that sounds like easy money to keep right on doing absolutely nothing.
would you happily sit on your butt if someone kept paying you? hell yeah you would
This company is a joke.

Worst part is the Xbox app actually works well. They could just add sync, make it available on the PC store and call it a day.
