This whole company has gone to hell. I leave Windows Phone because Plex refuses to fix the sync issue, and then either fires or their developer quits. The. They continue to deny this. So here we are a year later and I switch to Android to get away from this mess…ONLY TO FIND OUT THEIR UPDATES BOMB SYNCED CONTENT ALSO. FIX YOUE GOD DAMN ■■■■ ALREADY.
SEVEN MONTHS. LET’S END THE FACADE.
Yup, Emby Theater is looking pretty decent in comparison. Shame Emby lacks a few things that make Plex still the better option for me but it’s come a long way.
So I think some of the reactions here are maybe a bit over the top. But I definitely agree, the state of the windows store app is really bad. To the point that I switched over to PMP a long time ago. I dont use sync on the windows store app (seems to be majorly broken if other posters are to be believed) but the stuttering issue has never gone away. The primary purpose of this app is to play video and for like 90% of my content, it makes things unwatchable.
Given that the last update was in May, 5 months ago, is this dead? Is there any news? Anything? I still like plex overall and the plex team seems to be responsive in other areas, but I dont know whats going on with this app.
Worst of all, the new web interface, while it looks nice, is terrible with touch screens. Pretty much unusable actually. And PMP is not quite a direct replacement since it doesnt seem to actually be intended for desktop usage (going full screen and back doesnt work like say MPC or VLC, especially with the interface changes that make it unusable with a mouse), and that the web interface in PMP was updated to the latest web client, which again doesnt work with touch.
So… whats the deal?
Forget the update from May. This was a hotfix release because they changed something in Plex Server 1.6.
The last “update” was in March.
Another month…Another 30 days of denial and silence.
How long do you think it will be before the inevitable ‘We’re sun-setting the UWP app’ email goes around?

Six months ago. At that point, I would want an explication as to why they denied it for so long.
Email Elan.
I have to be honest, the windows store app version, needs a lot of love.
Lot’s of annoying little things, that detract from the experience, synching, watched status, audio issues with EAC-3
Are we meant to use Plex Media Player, and if so does it support synching?

the CTO and co-founder of Plex…
Just look at the silver lining chaps, PLEX aren’t likely to add crap like News to the app at this rate.

It’s probably the first thing they add once they ever get back to working on the app…I’m using Emby on Windows 10 now, sync works on my Surface Pro 4,although it doesn’t display the synced items as nicely as Plex and no playback issues at all.
Why exactly does PLEX have a dedicated dev for Xbox One?
Shouldn’t it have been consolidated into UWP development by now?
Holy he’ll. EITHER ADMIT YOU DRAGGED US ALONG AND THERE IS NO FURTHER SUPPORT FOR THIS LEMON OR TELL US WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING!!!
I wonder if the plex for windows actually has a developer assigned to it any more, or that developer has left?
Of course it could be in the process of being rewritten in UWP? If this is the case, then a simple post should be sufficient.
The current version is UWP already, as it runs on both desktop and (now dead) windows phone. Hopefully there is work going on on making the xbox version run on windows 10. I’ve not seen the developer online for a long time so my feeling is that he left and no one took over (which is pretty bad business if you ask me)
Interestingly the UWP dev posted in a thread on the 4th October, but only once and there’s been nothing since.
Maybe he’s on his way back?

I am starting to wonder too if the Windows store app has been discontinued or not. I do not get why Plex guys cant just clearly say:
- yes, we dropped it
- we are missing dev so this has been shelved until futher notice
- giant space monster came and ate our code or whatever…
I guess there will be some rambling but still better than hanging in the dark…
I saw @BigWheel posting here earlier, maybe he can shed some light on this?
