Ok, so how does Plex shuffle work on tv episodes? I swear it plays the same episodes. I literally watched like 4 episodes, backed out, started another TV series, backed out and went back to the original show. It played 1 of the episodes I just watched. This is out of 200 episodes and this happens all the time.
Sometimes it will play in almost the same order it played before. What is up with that? Am I crazy lol?
I just tested and I get a different order of episodes each time. I tested using PlexWeb, but it shouldn’t matter as the shuffle is done by the server. Are you sure you are hitting shuffle at the show level? If it’s at the season level, there is definitely a higher chance of repeating an episode you just watched.
No… It’s at the series level. You literally would have to play 6 or 7 episodes and sometimes I’ll get 2 that are the same when I shuffle again. This is on Xbox one, but that shouldn’t matter. A few times its played the exact same episodes in the same order. When that happens I usually just exit the plex app and start it over. That only happens if I back out from watching in shuffle and immediately press shuffle again.
It’s possible the playqueue (that’s what gets created when you hit shuffle) is being cached by the XBox so you get the same list when stopping and shuffling right away. Have you checked the XBox One section of the forum to see if this has been reported? I’m not aware of any reports. Please post details with logs and maybe the devs can identify the problem.
