Plex slows down when doing mass deletions, and doesn't complete them

Server Version#:1.40.0.7998 (on Terramaster F4-421, Intel x-64 on linux implementation)
Player Version#: Version 1.88.1.96-c1c59fc1 (plex for windows) on win 10 x-64

Periodically I do a clean-up of the news shows that I have recorded and watched. I have noticed that when I do the mass-deletion, the server slows down significantly – effectively grinds to a halt. Further, it doesn’t complete the deletions. I have to go back in periodically and reselect the remaining episodes and restart the deletions. Cleaning up my library should not be that significant an impact to the server’s resources. Further, it should complete the task that has been selected, and not require re-doing the remnants over and over until this gets done.

It seems that there’s something in the way the server negotiates the library that causes it to go through unnecessary gyrations, when this should be a fairly simple task.

Please consider a rewrite of the episode deletion logic to make this task work better and require less system resources.

At this point, it seems kinda dumb that the workaround would be to manually go into the directories that the library uses, and delete the episodes within linux, and then force a rescan of the library to get the episodes out of plex.

While many users may not be using the DVR function to record daily news shows, and so don’t have a need for doing mass deletions of these after they build up for a while, many of us bought plex exactly for the DVR capabilities, and would prefer to manage our libraries and episodes within the plex gui.

This has been an issue for years now. Please get this fixed and optimized.
