After the last update, Plex Home Theater no longer keeps track of watched/unwatched shows or even where I left off if stopping in the middle. Also Plex on Xbox One is now extremely sluggish when trying to get to a selection’s load/info screen. I’m assuming it something in the media server update that’s effecting both. They both started happening the same time after that last update. There are no visual error messages to submit.

I am not getting any ALERTS on local viewings on both MY htpc using PHT.
I was getting this with an older OpenPHT release but it went away and behaved normally when I updated that as well. So maybe something has changed in PMS which has broke this for PHT too
nope still no joy with OpenPHT also.
PMS 1.0.0.x is horribly flawed. It should be uninstalled and an older version installed in its place. Plex screwed this up quite horribly and they also removed the ability to downgrade via a download. However there is still a way:
To downgrade you can find earlier versions in a directory called “Updates” in your Plex data directory.
Simply uninstall Plex but do NOT allow the operating system to “wipe out all traces.”
After that run one of the installers in that “Updates” directory. I recommend .9.16.x.
That will installer the older server without destroying any of your data.
After that completes do NOT upgrade further until Plex releases a new server and even then I recommend waiting until it has been out, without serious issues reported here, for at least a week.
