Plex still scanning even when all options to scan are disabled

Server Version#: 1.25.9.5721
Player Version#:4.76.1

is there some option out side of the library tab to allow scanning ive stopped all 3 options for scanning and reset the server yet its still scanning again anyways. ive never had this issue in 5 years of using plex 24/7.

Nope… disabling automatic or periodic scans in Settings > [Server Name] > Library should stop Plex from scanning your library unless you manually trigger a scan.

What exactly is Plex scanning?
Even if you disabled automatic/periodic scans, Plex can still refresh metadata or the media analysis of your libraries as part of a scheduled task…

Thank you for the fast reply.

That’s what I thought, that if I turned it off I would have to manually trigger a scan.

It is scanning a large library(around 100tb) of shows, and does it very very frequently. even with all settings set to not auto scan including noticing when a file changes is turned off it’s still scanning.

Ive not encountered this before. I do use Radarr and Sonarr but they only tell plex when a file has changed not to start scanning.

also its set to run scheduled tasks late in the morning they generally run around 3am

Is the option to scan when changes detected enabled?

no as I stated that option is also turned off.

They do tell Plex to scan. That’s what is necessary to ingest a changed or added file into Plex.

If using Radarr nightly (and if Plex and Radarr share a consistent view of the filesystem) there’s a recent change that can make a big difference.

plex: only add new movie dir instead of triggering library scan by nls44 · Pull Request #5527 · Radarr/Radarr · GitHub
