Plex Server Constantly scanning all Libraries

Server Version#: 1.31.3.6868

Recently I was trying to watch things on my Nvidia shield, but it became impossible for me select anything as the page kept refreshing every second. I assumed it was an issue with that at first, but after a while of troubleshooting I opened up the plex server, and noticed in the activities it was scanning all of my libraries repeatedly. I disable the automatic library scanning which fixed my issue on the shield, but for obvious reasons i would like it to automatically update. I have re-enabled the auto update, and its doing the same thing of constantly scanning, and it has already repeated some things its scanned before so its not just a case of not being finished yet. Anyone experienced this, and know how i can resolve this?

Are you sure it’s not the new credit detection?

I’ll give that a shot. Does the credit detection show as scanning library in the activity drop-down though? Also if this does resolve it seems like the feature may be completely broken and plex needs to work on it

Unfortunately this did not solve the issue. Continued trying to scan all libraries. Only solve so far is unchecking auto scan. I can leave partial scan checked off, but that actually doesn’t seem to be working. Added a bunch of music to a library today, and it didn’t seem to detect changes to that folder and scan. I had to manually kick off a scan.
I can say server resources seem fine. You linked an post about cpu usage. Mine isn’t being hit hard at all. Its just causing my libraries to refresh every second making it impossible to navigate around

I only experience excessive scanning once and it was due to a corrupt file I had added. Luckily, I noticed it soon after so I knew what file it was.

I’m not a Linux guy so this could be something obvious I’m unaware of

I would upload your server logs to see if someone can pinpoint what’s going on
Enable debug logging, not verbose

Download the zip file in the troubleshooting section of the settings and drag it into the box on your next post
