Plex Streaming issues on Web app, ipad and phone

Hello,

I am having streaming issues with the Plex player on my computer. I use the Plex player on Chrome. The video keeps streaming. I see speed of less than 1 in the logs. Please advise.

I am able to view the content if I use Fire TV or Apple TV.

Browser playback is the most limited and therefore can cause your video to be transcoded (while it might play directly on another client) – that is if your server isn’t strong enough to transcode the video to a format supported by your browser in real-time.

You could give the native apps a try (e.g. Plex Media Player or Plex for Windows on your desktop, Plex for iOS on your iPad…). Those tend to be better at direct playing content.

Thank you. With plex media player I am able to watch the content properly now. However, I am having issue with my android phone wheni use Plex the movie takes forever to load.

Mind sharing some more details?

  • what Android version?
  • which version of the Plex for Android app?
  • do you experience this with all movies/shows or only some?
  • is the Android connected to the same home network?
  • is the video being transcoded or direct played?
  • even if you’re within your home network… does Plex stream the media locally or remotely (maybe even indirectly)?

You can double check the last two bullet points using the „Now Playing“ section of the dashboard in Plex Web

  2. Plex version 8.0.1.17410
  3. I experience this issue with all the movies.
  4. the android phone is connected to the same network.
  5. I think I am directly playing the video. I am not sure how i can use the transcode feature in the app.

Re 5/6: could you share a screenshot of the now playing dashboard (with details toggled on)?

One more thing. I haven’t activated Plex on my mobile device by paying a one-time fee. the message i get says the playback will be limited to a minute. will this have an impact in playing movies? I will send the screenshot soon. Thanks.

Well… as far as it’ll only allow playing movies for 1 minute
