Plex Streaming on LAN as WAN

Hi Folks,

I am a big friend of Plex and like this tool but as an IT Geek I need sometimes for test my Hyper-V on Windows 10 - 1903.

My Problem is now with activated Hyper-V that any started stream is running over WAN Network.
On a normal installation there is most one network adapter but with Hyper-V there is a new one called vEthernet (Default Switch)

So my SERVER has the IP 192.168.0.100 with PLEX
My Networkcard has the IP 192.168.0.106
My vEthernet has the IP 172.17.243.129

If I now start a video so I can see on the server that I come as an external Viewer with my public IP address and this is not so good if I want to look 4K videos or others.

My question is now that someone has the same issue and how to solve it without uninstalling of Hyper-V?

Thanks a lot and I hope it´s explained clear enough.

Try
Settings - Server - Network - ‘Show Advanced’ - “LAN Networks” = 192.168.0.0/24

You might have to stop and restart the server afterwards.

Hi,
this I’ve configured with 192.168.0.1/24 and change it to yours but it doesn’t help or work.

My stream from my PC from PLEX will run over WAN Network.
Only if I uninstall HyperV as Feature all is fine but not an Option for me.

Other or more ideas welcome!

Short Update:
If I connect over the DNS Name of my server so I will be streaming over WAN.
If I connect over the IP Adress of my server so I will be streaming over LAN.

Little bit confusing why this so is, eventually because plex will connect in the background to PLEX.tv with my account and so it means I come from external Network.

Don’t use your custom domain name.
There is no need to use it, particularly in the local network.
