Have any interesting puzzle I can’t pin down. All my movies play fine through my wired roku on the TV. If I try to play one with plex on my PC, "also wired, " they take forever to start and immediately stutter. if I play them with windows media player they run fine. I’m not looking for a solution but just an explanation. TIA
It sounds like they are trying to transcode for your web browser and your server may not be strong enough to transcode them; usually a problem if you don’t have hardware transcoding avail or your processor is not strong enogh. Are you using the plex app or the browser? In either case Make sure that on the browser you are using Use recommended settings under quality for plex web; and on the app have it set to stream original quality on local network.
You haven’t said what client you are watching these videos on your PC. If you open a browser and go to app.plex.tv, then you are using the web browser client, which is not quite capable of doing certain codecs (H.265, depending on the browser) or if you use subtitles.
If you are using the actual Plex-for-Windows installed program, then that is odd. The Windows clients are one of the most capable clients available.
Sorry, was using mickeysofts edge to view through plex. What you said explains it all. I did try it in media player, and it runs fine. I was just using plex in edge to verify the file. Thank you!!!
