Plex sync issues raising their ugly head again!

@MovieFan.Plex:
Is this new behavior intended or is it an introduced bug?
(You can always ask me  )

Wow. Yeah so thats what it was then. The fact that I was out of space so the sync was stalling.

This is also definitely not how it used to be, cause I had an even bigger library then that was syncing to my phone as I slowly got through my unwatched shows.

Hope its a bug that can be fixed!

Let me look into if there was a change. I thought it was always this way. It’s possible it wasn’t working as intended before so it was a beneficial bug, but then got fixed.

Fingers crossed here - cause having to micro manage my syncs to make sure there’s always a little bit of free space would be a pain. Be much better for the sync to just use ALL available space and replace watched shows with unwatched IMO

Thanks for getting involved MovieFan

Agreed, and yes thanks MovieFan.

Also, being able to delete synced items directly from the client would be
good too.

So that’s how it feels to sit on the “other side”

Our customers usually complain when we fix a bug they’ve been using for ears.
Always results in a setting in some config file. There are quite a few “RestorePreviousBehaviorXX” in our code

Still investigating, but for now, all I can say is

Hah!

Although I don’t think this case really qualifies  I mean, if you accidently sync too much to the phone and it fills up the sd card then its game over! Can’t unsync or delete antyhing so your only option is wipe the card and start again

Hardly sounds like “working as intended” to me

and then on watching or deleting items it would then sync down new items
Not quite the correct order. It will sync first then delete (as mentioned above incase there is another sync job that would want the file still there, so it doesn’t end up re-syncing something that just got deleted). If your device is full so it can’t accomplish the download first, you may experience this issue.

Then we are a few people here that can agree upon that we had a different behavoir a few month ago, a behavior that in my opinion was better than the current.

You others wiith the same problem, are you using playlists to sync or are you syncing item by item?

To be true, playlist sync we introduced a few months ago
 Sync sure changed then.

“Working as coded.”.

I’ve reported the issue and hopefully the intent will change soon.

Would greatly appreciate that mate!

I mean, in my mind, if it just did a check, then deleted watched before downloading new shows that would fix everything for me!

Looking forward to future updates!

This has happened to me at least 4-5 times in the last year. It the local sync’ed media becomes orphaned. Sometime it shows in the sync settings, but will think there is no content and does not even show the movie/TV category. The server also thinks and shows the content is on the device. If I browse the SD card
the media is there taking up space. If the Plex player does show the synced content, when you go to play it it says it cannot find the media. I cant trust the sync and I really want to. I have a 128 GB card to am using on a Galaxy S7.
