Plex Sync options - Raspberry Pi?

Right, so.

Basicall my mother moved and her internet is a bit of a joke. I want to add the Sync feature to her TV, then she can click sync the day before she wants to watch any of the media.

Been poking a spare Raspberry Pi all day and got a decent android running on it now. But every version of plex I’ve tried ends up switching to AndroidTV mode without the sync option.

So my 1 questions are:

  1. Any way to load the mobile version of plex onto an android pi? I’ve had android 6 and 7 running on it but it’s just putting the AndroidTV varient of plex on, very annoying as it has no Sync options.
  2. Is it just android phones and iOS that can use sync / what would be a good device to get for her?

I’ve a ChromeOS (Asus flipbook) with chromestore app and it works as the mobile app not androidtv, but a chromebook is a bit out of the price range for this. Specially as there is a high chance of it not working that way for long.

An alternative could be the Windows store app (mainly to be used on phones and tablets, but works on PC’s too), afaik, it still has its sync capabilities. Not sure how feasible it would actually be in this instance, but still worth mentioning.

Don’t believe it does have mobile sync. A windows varients would be fine as I can knock up a quick media PC from spare parts.

I’ll grab a laptop and check again tho.

Well bugger me I think it has sync.

Will go try this on her laptop tomorrow, thanks.

I’ve used it in the past on my laptop when travelling. Quite nifty tbh. Hope it works out for you and your mother.
