Is it possible for one of my Plex users, who is running Ubuntu Linux, to sync with my library?

I have a friend whom I added as a Plex user. This friend runs Ubuntu Linux on her laptop. She often travels to places with really slow internet connection and I think the Plex Sync feature would be perfect for her.

Since there`s no Plex Player App for Linux (which sucks, by the way), I suggested her to try and install the Plex Media Server on her Ubuntu laptop, and try to sync from it.

However when she does try to sync with my library from her Plex Media Server installation, she get`s the following messages?

“You are not signed in to any sync capable devices”.

I looked into OpenPHT but it seems like it doesn’t offer the Sync feature. Is there any way this Plex user of mine (running Ubuntu Linux) can be able to use the Sync feature on her laptop?

Only mobile devices can sync, so her laptop is not a sync capable device.

it would be a clunky work around, but i wonder if you loaded an android emulator (i use droid4x on windows, don’t know a thing about Ubuntu tho…) on her laptop, and then loaded the plex for android player in that emulator if it would sync fine… never tried it… but makes sense it would work… especially if you edit the BuildProp to make the emulator appear to be something standard, like a samsung s8 or something. certainly not a great solution, but thought i’d throw that out there if you wanted to get a “fun” potential solution =]
