Plex thinks all local devices are remote

Server Version#: 1.42.1.10060
Player Version#: 4.147.1

I can’t even play media from the mac acting as the server. Please let me know what other information to provide.

What IP address space is configured in the settings Network > LAN Networks ? It needs to be correctly configured to the IP address space of your local network. So if your client device IP address is something like 192.168.0.5 the IP space needs to be configured to 192.168.0.0/16 to include all addresses between192.168.0.1 and 192.168.255.255, which includes 192.168.0.5.

On Windows you can find out what local IP address is used by running ipconfig /all in the terminal (which you open by typing “Command Prompt” in the search bar). The IP address is usually in the same space as your router IP address, if you know that.

There is no option for “LAN networks” under the networks setting

I believe that setting is only available if you have a Plex Pass.

This sounds like stirring with your network setup. Can you describe your setup?

Also, can you restart pms, wait 3 minutes, then post the server logs.

Along with what @MovieFan said, are you trying to play it via the Plex Mac app or through Plex web? If web, what browser. Safari and other will turn on hide ip address, which makes it look like you aren’t local. MacOS wifi/network settings also has an option to do that.

Safari:

MacOS:

Best to try the Plex MacOS app and report back https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/?cat=plex+desktop&plat=macos#plex-app

Thank you all so much for the input and help. I tried to view plex on the web player as well as my roku. Since I only use plex for local streaming, I ended up moving over to a different service that is working for me. Thanks again.
