To everyone who decided to try out Tidal and wants to cancel before they are charged:
I wrestled for days with Tidal customer service before finally receiving an answer on how to cancel the Tidal subscription. Believe it or not, if you have PLEX + TIDAL you are only able to cancel your TIDAL subscription in PLEX - not on the Tidal Website or by calling or emailing TIDAL customer service. Whatever agreement the two companies have in place must require the TIDAL account to be cancelled in the PLEX web app.
Navigate to “Plex Web>Settings>Accounts>Subscriptions” Scroll down to “Add-Ons & Bundles,” to the Tidal Subscription and click “Cancel” and then “Confirm Cancellation”
How do I manage a TIDAL subscription through Plex?
After starting a TIDAL subscription through Plex, you can manage that subscription at any time from your account Subscriptions page. There, you can:
View the status of your subscription
Edit the subscription billing information
Cancel future renewal for the subscription
When cancelling a TIDAL subscription, that will cancel future renewal. You will retain access to TIDAL features for the remainder of the subscription month.
For existing Plex Pass subscribers who have a TIDAL “add-on” subscription, if you cancel your monthly or yearly Plex Pass subscription, that will also cancel the associated TIDAL “add-on” subscription.
Well that was the issue for me. It did not make sense to me at all. I signed up for TIDAL on TIDAL’s webpage, then linked my account inside of PLEX’s web interface. So the issue in my case was that even though I signed up for TIDAL on TIDAL’s page, I was not able to cancel with TIDAL either via their page or by their customer service after I had linked accounts.
Yeah, I found it confusing with the Spotify and Hulu thing too as I already had accounts with both when I linked the accounts to get the discounted price.
That doesn’t sound right. Looking at your Plex account, it shows you signed up for the Tidal add-on since you already had a Plex Pass. So you did sign up through Plex. Or you signed up through Tidal then chose to get billed by Plex, this transfer your account from Tidal to Plex as described in that article linked above. And as far as I can tell, you have not cancelled this trial yet.
To get the discount, you had to switch billing to Plex. So the cancellation would be through Plex now. As mentioned in that link above, there are 2 ways to tie your Tidal account to your Plex account. A regular link which doesn’t change your original Tidal account, or billing through Plex, which does.
hi, I have the same problem, I deactivated the renewal of Tidal through plex and I disconnected the tidal account from that of plex but at the moment I still can not manage the tidal account. do you confirm that once the offer has expired, will I be able to manage the account again from the tidal page? thank you so much!
I’ve confirmed you’ve cancelled the sub through Plex. Tidal doesn’t have a way switch the billing back to them, so you will need to wait until the sub expires, then sign back up with them.
All I have in my Subscriptions section is my lifetime plex pass. Nothing listed about my Tidal trial, and no apparent way to cancel it. Going thru Tidal of course redirects me to plex, and plex doesn’t appear to know about my Tidal trial.
