PLEX to control CAMBRIDGE STREAM MAGIC via DLNA

Hello,
Did invest in a synology NAS DS918+
Running the free version of PLEX , thinking about to go for the PASS paid version with TIDAL HIFI.
I have a CAMBRIDGE STREAM MAGIC… will i be able to push the stream e.g. from PLEX on IPAD directly to the CAMBRIDGE ? will it recognize that device ?
A similar post of more than 3 years ago was unanswered.
Thanks
Paul

No, Plex cannot control DLNA-only players.

Sorry, i am a newbie, and a bit confused…
What type of ‘device’ would you recommend to stream all my flacs (from the NAS) to my high-end hifi system. I currently do via SONOS (connect)
If i understood well, PLEX PASS will recognize my sonos as compatible play devices ?
Are there any other higher end (than sonos) alternative devices allowing me to stream (using PLEX client) to my hifi system ? Many thanks again.

There are almost none, if you are after an audio-only device.

At this particular moment in time, I personally would only recommend a Raspberry Pi 3 with an additional high-quality audio output module (like e.g. the HiFiBerry DAC+ Pro [or the HiFiBerry Digi+, if you’re after a TOSlink input]).
Then install the Plexamp for Raspberry Pi Release Notes onto it and hide it behind your amp.
For music, this is IMHO currently the best, since it supports loudness leveling and sweet fades (only available with Plex Pass).
However, it requires a bit of tinkering, so its not ideal for newbies.

If you are after a client with video support, you can use any of the currently officially available Plex clients. https://support.plex.tv/articles/categories/player-apps-platforms/

Hmm, thank you for your valuable answers. I am interested into an audiophile music configuration only. Video is not relevant for me. I am worried about the tinkering indeed, since newbie, and would not want to blow up myself the high-end gear behind it…
So i might be better off looking at roon server… which seems to be compatible with a bunch of roon-ready output devices (DAC’s / network streamers…).
The price tag however seems to be even more impressive than the features i am afraid. But i do have the NAS and the output gear already … so very close.
Thank you again, this forum is just great, responses are almost immediate, and the quality is superb ! Keep on going !!

Well, it is nearly impossible to blow an amp using a Raspberry pi, even if one commits every mistake imaginable.
You can get the necessary parts for under $100. Compare that with a Roon or Sonos system.
