Plex tracks progress across libraries, expected?

Hello everyone,

I have a library for my 1080p and one for my 4K movies and just found out, plex tracks the progress (and “played” status) of movies across those libraries. Is this expected? Although I think this is a nice feature, in some circumstances it´s not what I want. Is it possible to disable this altogether?

Yes, this is expected because ultimately this is the same movie.

If you want to separate this, you need to use different metadata agents for the libraries.
e.g. one library scanner&agent:“Plex Movie” and the other one Scanner: “Plex Movie Scanner” and agent “Plex Movie (Legacy)” or “TheMovieDB”.

This requires the removal and re-creation of one of the libraries, because once a movie has been matched with one agent, it won’t switch to an other agent. (Even after you change the default agent in the properties of the library.)
