On my phone when playing plex. It auto transcode to @720kbps
trancode reason
Resolution or bitrate exceeds maximum allowed.
I asume this is becuase i am on a samsung s9.
But should it go up auto when i plug phone directly into a hdmi tv? or cromcast?
There’s a number of possible causes for this:

Check the video quality settings in the Android Plex app. Those can set bitrate restrictions for various playback scenarios (local/remote/mobile streaming)

If you’re outside your home network… check your server’s remote access. The server owner can limit the maximum allowed streaming bandwidth/bitrate per stream

If you’re outside your home network… check if the connection is listed as „indirect“. That implies there’s some issues with the server remote access configuration that causes the communication to go through a relay server of Plex. Those relay servers allow a limited bandwidth (though this limit should be a little higher)

If you’re streaming media from Plex‘ video on demand sources with a regular (=non-Plex Pass) account there might be some bitrate limitations
