Hi, looking for some help please. This is my setup
Samsung 4K UHD Q7F running Plex App Tizen 3.84.2
Samsung HW-N950 Harman Kardon Dolby Atmos/DTS-X Supported
TV is connected to Soundbar via Bluetooth
TV is connected to my router Wired
Running PMS on a WD PR4100 NAS
So here is my issue, all of my 4K Remuxes with Atmos audio are transcoding to AAC.
DTS-MA is fine, along with other formats. So would anyone know why Atmos transcodes even though the soundbar supports it? I’ve also disabled subtitles to assist.
I get no buffering when playing the movies.
Is there a breakdown in my connections somewhere?
Its driving me mad any help appreciated, and happy to provide logs etc if needed.
However, when checking i can see that Video is direct play, but all audio Transcodes to AAC
Anyone have any ideas, or have i set this up incorrectly?
You can’t send an Atmos track over bluetooth. For that matter, even if you hook the soundbar up to the TV via HDMI you still won’t be able to send an Atmos track over it (ARC only supports audio formats up to DTS, including AAC, AC3, EAC3, etc.).
You won’t actually be sending a DTS-HD MA track to your soundbar in the configuration, either. The Plex app will be receiving a DTS-HD MA track, the TV will extract the DTS core and then downmix to a 2.0 audio format to then send to the soundbar via bluetooth.
For starters you need to hook your soundbar up to your TV’s ARC capable HDMI socket with an HDMI cable.
Typically, HD audio formats (DTS-HD MA, TrueHD, Atmos) need to one played on a device separate to your TV that then drive the TV and audio device separately, something like an Nvidia Shield, for example.
