I registered to say that I’m facing issues with transcoding quality. I have few TBs of FLAC library on a Xeon quad core server under Linux. PMS is working great however, the FLAC files on my TV through DLNA are playing at 192kbps.
Music information says : MP3 @ 192kbps. How can I force it to play at higher Mp3 bitrate ?
FYI, I tried another DLNA server ( Musicbee plugin ) which is very basic and files are being played on the TV show Linear PCM decoder. And to my ears the PCM sound much better on a Hi-Res gear.
I would imagine Musicbee is decoding FLAC and sending the LPCM stream to the TV. That would mean it’s still lossless and why you’re getting the better sound.
I’m not sure how to adjust the bitrate when not using a mobile device. You might want to add the DLNA tag to your post though. Might get a little more help that way.
