Plex TV app loads everything BUT photos

Looking to see if anyone else has come across this problem. We use plex at our cafe to load menu photos for the ease of editing menus and updating without climbing up with a USB every time there’s a change. We have been using plex for 4 years now with no issues. Opened up today and the plex TV app on our LG Smart Tvs no longer want to load pictures. Loads the videos just fine.

I tested the plex app on my phone to see if it was a server issue, but everything seems to load fine there. Here’s what I tried:

  • Deleting and recreating a menu library
  • Optimized library and photos
  • Deleting and reinstalling the Plex tv app
  • Reinstalling the server

If anyone has any recommendations on what to do next, I’m all ears!

I am having the same issues. Videos will play but the photos will not. I do have one tv that is working and it is an older app version. It seems the app update has done something.

Same result, so far, today. One distinction of this behavior is the difference between playing the images in a slideshow and having them show up in the screen saver mode.
When I try to look at the images one-by-one, or play them as a slideshow, all I can see is the error message, no matter what image format or age of the image.
When the screen saver kicks in, while I’m playing music files, etc., the images display without any problem.

Same here.
I have a Samsung TV - photos are working fine on all other devices (iphone, ipad, laptop) and the photos still work as my screen saver on the TV. I’ve rebooted the TV and deleted and reloaded the Plex app, but still get the same message “An error occurred displaying the current photo”.
This all seems to have happened since I downloaded the latest update to version 1.29.1.6316 - is this a coincidence?
I’d be interested to find out what’s going on.

Same here on my LG oled. No photos will load. Just get an error about the picture format. Guessing the last update broke this.

Sup guys.
Got this issue on my both samsung TV’s yesterday (dont know if its new issue or an old one, im kinda new to the plex) - 1st one is running plex for samsung 5.49.2 platform 4, 2nd one plex for samsung 5.49.2 platform 6. Both have the same error in the logs (pic related). Music and video work fine on TV’s, Web plex shows all the content. No errors in the logs of the Plex Media Server so it looks like a TV client problem.
Also googled guys with the exact same problem on the reddit
Any thoughts on this?

Same issue here with my Samsung TV and XBOX.

We found and fixed the problem. We’ll have a hotfix out as soon as it’s ready.
