Last night I was unable to use the Plex application on my XBOX; it said Plex.tv was down for maintenance. This lasted from about 8pm to 9:30 local (Australian) time.
It’s very annoying to lose the use of an application I use to stream local content because some external server is down or cannot be contacted. Could it be changed to use the last list of servers when this happens?
I had the very same issues and was really annoying, why do we require an external server for local media?
Because the Xbox One app cannot discover your local server (probibited by MS). So they use plex.tv to find you local server in your local network.
But as pointed out many times, they could use some kind of method to store the server information and let it be valid for ~24h and just update it every time plex.tv is available.
We have been working in this area to improve the app user experience in a future update when A) plex.tv or B) Xbox Live goes down
