Hello, so I was thinking on purchasing the Plex lifetime pass to get access to Plex live TV. Now I know once you do that, you need a box and antenna etc to get the stations. Now after all of that, my question is, are there any subscriptions you must pay for live tv? Like a monthly payment for the box or antenna or what. So I know you pay for the Plex pass and the hardware need (box, antenna, etc), so besides that stuff, is there any of payments required? I just really want this to be cleared up before I go forward, thanks.
You can get OTA or over the air channels for free which in the US is usually CBS/ABC/NBC/PBS and so on.
Those you do not need to pay any additional monthly fee, you pay for plex pass the tuner and an antenna and you are done.
There are paid for subscription tuners so for instance I have Xfinity or Comcast TV service that I pay for and I can get a CableCard and watch my paid for subscription channels and record them besides HBO and a few others which are DRM protected.
So for all my subscription channels I pay a monthly fee but any over the air channels there is no monthly or ongoing fee.
Hope that answers your question.
