Plex TVDB Episodes Does Not Match DVD Episodes

@OttoKerner @napolij

How do you manage your TV Show library for A TV Show that doesn’t have a matching database?

Specific example: Arrow → Season 4 → Episode 8.

My DVD splits Episode 8 into two episodes (8a and 8b). I’m unable to find a TV Show database that does that.

All you need to do is either use software to join the two a good one is boil soft joiner

Or name as below

To handle multi-part TV episodes in Plex (like Part 1 & Part 2), name them with the same episode number but append

.pt1,.pt2(orpart1,part2) to the filenames, ensuring the base name (e.g.,Show Name S01E01) matches perfectly; if Plex merges them or misidentifies them, check your library’s agent settings for Aired vs. DVD order or consider using Plex’sS01E01-E02format for combined episodes, but for truly split files, the.pt1/.pt2convention is best for separate entries.

That is because “Legends of Today” is actually not an episode of Arrow. It’s one of a few crossovers with The Flash.
Hence you will only find it listed in the metadata sources under The Flash: The Flash (2014) - Legends of Today (1) - TheTVDB.com
Arrow has also crossovers with Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow, btw. So you are likely to encounter similar issues with these episodes.

If you also have these 3 other shows on your server, you may want to look at Watch crossover episodes of several series in-order

Thank you @OttoKerner . This maybe what @piraterider1 was explaining, but I failed to understand.

If I keep the filenames the same as they appear on the DVD, the Plex server will house both files withing the same container but will only play one of them.

However, if I change the names to make them identical, with the only exception (pt1 and pt2). The plex server will not only house both files within the same container, but it will also combine the two as one and play both files.

It also matches the recommended solution that was provided by Gemini.

DVDs don’t have file names like these. These file names were probably done by your ripping software. You cannot expect Plex to correctly handle these.
There are offically supported file names and folder structures for Plex.

That is expected. It’s how Plex handles multi-part files.
