Plex update removes LocalAppDataPath registry key

The last 2 or 3 updates have resulted in the “LocalAppDataPath” registry key being deleted and Plex basically being defaulted back to it’s initial install state with no libraries or content. I have to manually add the key back into the registry and restart.

Will this happen from now on? I don’t see why this key should be removed as they took away the ability to make this change in the UI so the only way to make this happen is directly in the registry.

I have no access to my 2 Plex servers on different servers

I don’t think that is what is happening.

  • Do you run the installer “As Administrator”?
  • Do you run the plex server as a system service?
  • Do you have a 3rd-party anti virus software or other type of protection software?
  • Do you have more than one Windows user account on the Plex server machine? If so, do you make sure to always log on with the same user account after a restart?
