Plex Update Service running under the wrong user

I’m running the 1.18.2.2029 version of the server on Windows, but this issue has been present for some time.

I’m running it under a local user, to ease permissions on networked file shares.

The “Plex Update Service” is set up to “Log on As” the “Local System” account. I can go into the service properties and change it to my local account, but it changes back after every update.

This adds additional manual steps with every server update.

Summary: When the Plex Update Service updates itself, it should log on as whatever user it’s been customized to.

The update service runs as the SYSTEM account. That’s the whole point of it, because a regular user is not allowed to do installations.

After an upgrade, I change it to run as my local user account. It is able to do upgrade installations just fine, as it is a local administrator.
