Plex Updates on Xenial

I’ve been running Plex on Xenial for a while (with plex pass). I had a repository set up so that the server could auto-update when needed, but lately it seems stalled at 1.5.6.3790-4613ce077.

I’m also getting notifications via the UI that there is an update available (to 1.7.3.3937). Any idea what’s going on?

Yes, There was a regression where your local respository specification for PMS was overwritten with each update.
I’ve corrected it and it’s on its way to you now. IIRC, it’s in 1.7.3. If it’s not released yet, it will be with the next update.

I’m still having problems with this. After running an update, here’s the apt-cache status for the package (as of 9/17 10:04 PT):

plexmediaserver:
Installed: 1.8.4.4249-3497d6779
Candidate: 1.8.4.4249-3497d6779
Version table:
*** 1.8.4.4249-3497d6779 500
500 https://downloads.plex.tv/repo/deb ./public/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Yet, the front end shows a banner:
A Plex Media Server update is available for the server ! 1.9.0.4252

I’ve followed the instructions from this article: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/235974187-Enable-repository-updating-for-supported-Linux-server-distributions

Why isn’t the repo reflecting the updates?

The repo reflects Public update channel not Plex Pass.

In Settings - Server - General, check your Updates channel selection. You should find you have PlexPass selected, this is why.
