Plex Updates

I recently installed Plex on a Synology NAS 916+ server. The installed version is 1.10.1.4602. I am not receiving updates, even though the server, within the Plex software, is configured to “Enable Desktop Notifications.” I have an associate running the same Plex software on an identical server configured as mine, and he is receiving updates and is currently running version 1.11.1.4768. Additionally, when I utilize the server to sign in to the web interface at http://192.168.1.11:32400/web/index.html and go to Settings/General it indicates I am “up to date” with the older version. Also, if I enable the “Check for Updates” button it recycles and indicates I am up to date with version 1.10.1.4602

What do I need to do to receive the latest updates and also assure that I receive desktop update notifications?

Plex has 2 update channels…

  1. public channel (free, public releases) – latest public release is v1.10.1.4602
  2. beta channel for Plex Pass members (beta releases, part of a Plex Pass subscription) – latest beta release is v1.11.2.4772
