Plex user permissions together with nextcloud-snap

Server Version#: plexmediaserver_1.18.9.2578-513b381af_amd64.deb

I have an Ubuntu server running where I’ve already installed nextcloud-snap. With nextcloud installation via snap, nextcloud data is located under /var/snap/nextcloud/common/data. This folder is owned by root:root (user:group).

I have now installed Plex (non-snap), and want Plex to access files under the nextcloud data folder. The easiest approach would be to add the plex user to the root group, but that also seems like a bad idea on various different levels. I was not able in the various faq’s to find tips on how to set this up. If nextcloud had not been a snap installation, the data folder would be owned by www-data, which I would feel more comfortable adding plex to.

Any tips on good approaches here?

I’m curious about this too. I’d love for plex to see the photos I have in nextcloud

What are the permissions on the /var/snap/nextcloud/common/data folder? Can they be relaxed to allow the plex user to access them?

I want to know this too.

Have you found a solution already. I’m having the same problem here…
