Plex VR - Watch Together

I am not a Plex Pass member (yet!) but I am trialing the Plex VR specifically interested in the feature to Watch Together.

Situation
I have a PMS with my video content. My friend has a Plex account with no PMS but I have given them access to my own PMS.

Issue
When trying to Watch Together, we are experiencing an issue where if either of us starts playing a video and shares with the other person, then the user receiving the join/share request has the media library in front of the actual video that is being watched together.

Workaround
The only work around we have found is for the user receiving the join/share request to also play the same video. The problem wih this however is that there can then be sync issues.

Has anyone else experienced this same issue?

This is a very important feature for us, and if it can work as expected then I will be looking to upgrade to a full Plex Pass member to take advantage of this feature. I am concerned that if this issue is not resolved in time then I won’t be able to test this properly within the 7 day free trial period.

Please can Plex advise if this is a known issue or if there any settings that need to be checked/changed.

Thanks for trying Plex VR. So ideally we would close the menu when playback begins, but in the meantime there’s a workaround you can use:

  • In Daydream, the menu will close if you press the App button (2 on the following pic).

  • In Oculus Go / Gear VR, the menu will close if you press the “back” button on the remote.

If those workarounds don’t work please let me know because it would be a bug.

Thanks for your suggestion. I will certainly give that a try. Unfortunately we aren’t able to test very often. Is there anyway the trial period could be extended? Up until now I haven’t had the need to upgrade to Plex Pass but this is definitely something I would upgrade for if it works as it should. We just need enought time to test it over the next month.

Another issue we are facing is the chat feature seems to be cutting out all the time. Can we discuss this in this thread or should I raise another for this? This is another feature that is very important for watching things together and of course a reason to upgrade.

Can somebody please advise if the trial period can be extended? If we cannot test it then I won’t know whether to upgrade Plex or not.

I’m not sure about extending the trial period, but it’s only $5 to test it out for the month.

So I’ve managed to test Plex VR a bit more. There are some minor sync issues which we know how to work around. Our main issue now is that the chat feature is very very intermittent. Sometimes it works well as if you sat in the same room but then literally seconds later it will just not work and if it does then it is a cvery choppy conversation.

Can someone from Plex please comment?

This is a deal breaker for me upgrading my membership. Without this working we would rather watch in normal Plex and simply call each other via Skype/Whats
App. To be truly a virtual and together experience - talking plays a big part.
