This seems like an odd problem. I have downloaded and installed the latest version of the Plex Media Server for Windows. It is running. When I right click on the Plex Media Server icon in the notification area and click “Open Plex…”, my browser opens up “http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/index.html”, the page loads, and I log in using my Google account.
Once on the main page of the local Web App, I get the message “A server could not be found. Download and install Plex Media Server, and it will appear here”. That seems odd because the server is clearly hosting the local Web App that is currently loaded… yet it can’t find it. Under settings, there is no tab for devices.
I am seeing similar problems - they just cropped up today. Both the web client and my Roku client take forever to log in, if at all. My Roku client ends up going to “offline mode”. I’ve checked my remote connectivity, and the port is accessible from the outside.
I’m glad that I am not the only one experiencing these issues. I just reinstalled windows 10 on my ssd and while reinstalling my applications, I noticed Plex was not working the same. Perhaps it is an issue on their side.
Turns out, I’m just dumb. I had the Plex Server installed a while ago, and back then I claimed the server with a different account/email, so it wouldn’t show up when I signed on with my Google account. I signed in with my other account and the server popped up.
Thank you so much, I just wasted countless hours trying to figure out why it wasn’t working… and it was exactly that: different email/account… I feel so stupid hahaha but thank you!
