Plex Web (Chrome) > Left Navigation Not Compact

Hi, all~

When managing my library I primarily use Chrome.

When logged in as myself (owner) the left-hand navigation has a lot of vertical padding - in other words, things are really spread out (see first picture).

When logged in as one of my managed users, the left-hand navigation is much more compact (see second picture).

This holds true whether I’m accessing PMS locally or remotely.

Is there a setting/file/registry entry/something that can be edited for my user to enable a more compact menu?

Thanks,
Nathan

Annoying, ain’t it?

It’s the invisible Server Identification Text Box - with nothing in it.
Since there’s no Server Identification Needed for your Home… well, you get the idea.

You should see it on a Roku - or FireTV… hilarious.

… and yea, we’ve been screaming about it since day one - crickets.

Do you not have the “hamburger” on the top of that list? I use Firefox myself, and by clicking the burger, the whole menu just vanishes. It takes up almost no space at all…

I spent some time looking at the code and experimenting, and I believe I’ve found the cause.

Here’s a simplified version of the not-compact version:

Examlpe 1 - Not Compact

And here’s that same version, but without the “Movies & TV On Plex” line pinned to the menu:

Example 2 - Compact

Once you see it like that, it’s obvious: the On Plex text is making that row of the table taller… and in order to keep all the rows of the table the same height, they are all made taller too.

So, a suggestion to the Plex coders: consider allowing variable heights to each of the rows of the left-hand navigation table.

…in the meantime, I’ll just unpin the “Movies & TV On Plex” item from my navigation bar.

Thanks again for the great product,
Nathan

I misunderstood what you meant in your original post. I see what you mean now, I missed the word vertical in your post. Oops!

To me it doesn’t matter either way. I don’t have so many things in my left column that I have to be worried about the spacing of them. The column takes up the entire height of the screen no matter how much space is between the selections in it, so for me it’s irrelevant at this point.
