I have a directory of AVI files created by my security camera. I created a PLEX library of type “Other Videos” and linked it to this directory. Plex seems to locate and create preview thumbnails for the AVI files but when I try to play them I just get a dim view of the thumbnail with the spinning circle for the duration of the video. The video never actually plays. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks in advance.
What OS do you have Plex Media Player installed on?

Odd. The show I’m watching right now is all avi and no issues.
What version of player and server? Is transcoding turned on (hw box checked or not)? Do the AVI files play correctly on the WIN10 machine?
If all else fails, are you able to export those security files to MP4 or something else instead of avi? AVI should work, but if you can have them exported diff, try that.
Lots of avi here. No issues with playback on any client.
