So i’ve Recently encountered this problem with my plex on my Synology, and i’ve Done a fresh installation of plex (both latest stable and plex pass version) and nothing has changed.
The problem is, once the playback stops (either pause for too long, or just i simply decide to stop for the moment), it will NOT resume. Whenever i resume playback, i will be watching it buffer forever. However, if i mark the video as watched, then unmatched, and then start watching, plex will start playing almost immediately, and i can scroll through the video to where i stopped manually without any problem.
Simply put, plex will only start playback when there is no ‘bookmark’ and starts from the beginning.
Anyone experiencing the same? Any advice?
Thanks in advance.
start by telling us which plex player you are using so i can move this to the right area

Both iOS and web client. On my iPad and iPhone it just straight won’t start playing. And on web client, it will start from the beginning even when I select “resume playback from XXX”
Since you just reinstalled can you go to settings>Devices and make sure no old version of server are there. there should be a date next to each one for how long ago it was seen. remove any but the newest ( I’m assuming you don’t have more than one server)
also try to play something and just stop playback in the after at least a minute of playback. then grab logs. want to see if it is writing stop point to database ( sounds like it is because it asks you sometimes)
also the logs from when you start playback again and it fails.
I am guessing a corrupt database maybe and it getting stuck trying to read watched point.
have you tried optimizing the database?
