Okay, so here is the issue I am having.
I have 4 drives in my system, each 2tb
I installed my Ubuntu Server onto drive sda and created the folder /home/t/media1
the other three are called and mounted to
sdb mounted to /home/t/media2
sdc mounted to /home/t/media3
sdd mounted to /home/t/media4
Plex Media Server is on sda without problem.
I uploaded 4 media files to media2 and added media2 to my tv shows listing in plex
The 4 videos show up no problem
I remove media2 and add media1 and upload the same media files to media1
in plex I add media1, and when selecting the folder I can see the video files in the folder select list, but when I add media1 the video files do not get populated into plex
TLDR
plex wont display video files on the primary drive, but it successfully adds any videos on any other mounted drive.
All folders currently 777 permissions
All have the same owner
First, what is the permissions of /home/t when nothing is mounted?
Next, what are the permissions of the mount point directories themselves before mounting?
Make sure everything is correct before mounting.
sudo find /home/t/media* -type d -exec chmod 755 {} \;
This does assume EXT4 file system. It opens all the permissions so you have ownership and PMS can read the directories.
Should you need to open up the file permissions as well.
sudo find /home/t/media* -type f -exec chmod 644 {} \;
I appreciate the response, but for some reason the PMS is suddenly reading the files.
Apparently my playing with permissions did in fact fix it, just not sure when it finally registered it because I tested it on the current settings and it failed, now its working just fine…
