Plex XML metadata being tagged with wrong grandparentTitle

So I’ve seen similar posts to what I’m asking that have been closed, but there doesn’t seem to be a clear consensus on what the issue is or how to fix it. I’ve been a Plex Pass member and avid user for over 6 years, ran into issues every now and again, but nothing like this! I just added a new folder of Dance/Trance music, and at first it looked like Plex wasn’t seeing it at all. After digging through the logs I found it was tagging every single song in the folder as “Iyaz”. Now, all the meta data is tagged using MusicBrainz so I know the artist is correct. Not to mention anything else I add it tagged correctly. It’s just this 1 folder. See the screen shot below, as you can see most of the information is correct except for the grandparentTitle variable. Does anyone know where/why this is being populated?

I have the same issue. grandparentTitle is populating 99 albums with the band name “Eisbrecher”
This needs fixing, it’s a bad bug!. Nothing against Eisbrecher, naturally - they’re a great band!

Try to find the artist “Various Artists”.
If you can’t find it, it has been renamed to “Eisbrecher”.

So I found something interesting within Plex. In Settings --> Agents --> Artists, the Last.FM agent became primary. Same was true for Albums too. I switched it back to "Personal Media Artists/Albums and kicked off a rescan. Nothing…Then I went back to the Music blade, clicked on the 3 dots, and went into the Music area’s settings (like where you add folders to scan and such). Under “Advanced” the Agent was still set to Last.FM. Upon changing that to Plex Music everything started working as expected. I think it has something to do with some bug within the Last.FM agent that is jacking up the grandparentTitle.
In my case iyaz was the last successful thing that was scanned before it went rogue, so I think somehow it’s caching that information and looping it into that field while using the Last.FM agent.

Just something to check in your system if you need an immediate resolution.
P.S. you may have to remove, scan and then re-add the folder that’s not being detected properly in order for Plex Music agent to properly retag that music.

There is no way in this place to make an agent “primary”.

Just trigger “Refresh Metadata” on the Artist and wait a few minutes. It should convert the artist to the Plex Music agent.
If it doesn’t, use Fix Match or Unmatch/Match on the Artist level.

Thank you - this is really helpful. Sorry for the late reply, I only just discovered this issue was persisting!- but now I know why :-).
