Running with --disable-seccomp-filter-sandbox worked for me to fix the problem on Ubuntu too.
( Plexamp runs without this, and can be controlled by playerctl, but the gui will not show. )
Latest version works! I got past the sign-in window, logged in and the app seems to be working. However I can’t control it with my media keys, like on windows. Ctrl+Alt+up/down arrow works to adjust Plexamp volume though.
are you using the AUR version? it always (since 3.0) worked fine for me, including media keys [prev, play/pause, next]. volume, for me, is managed via gnome.
Did not matter which version I used. It was always either not starting at all, or getting stuck on the sign-in window. Now working and media keys work too until I play something on youtube. Then media keys will switch to youtube instead and will stay there until I select PlexAmp window again. Using KDE.
I’ve had success running it on debian Linux debian 4.19.0-6-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.19.67-2 (2019-08-28) x86_64 GNU/Linux
Running the appimage as follows allows the sign in portion to function properly (you may have to look around for the browser that it sent the authentication page to, or maybe you need to just have it open). The app functions great – I made shell script to run it even. I imagine this may work for a lot of the other posters here.
Spread this around if it works for you too:
I’ll add that I did have all the problems the previous posts are mentioning such as the app not running and the sign in button not working. The appimage needs to be executable chmod +x ./Plexamp-3.1.1.AppImage and the above two arguments seem to fix both issues for me.
Of course, use at your own risk, you are then allowing the application un-sandboxed access to your computer.
I was able to launch and sign in with the flags mentioned in this thread. However, when attempting to play anything, it just results in a blank off-gray window.
